Reformation Day: Why It Matters for Us Today

Reformation Day: Why It Matters for Us Today

On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses to a church door in Wittenberg. It wasn’t about rebellion for rebellion’s sake — it was a call to return to Jesus, the gospel, and the authority of Scripture. The Reformation reminded the world that salvation is not earned, purchased, or performed. It is a gift of grace, through faith in Christ alone.

Sola Scriptura. Sola Gratia. Sola Fide. Solus Christus. Soli Deo Gloria.
Scripture alone. Grace alone. Faith alone. Christ alone. To the glory of God alone.

Today, we live in a world quick to celebrate self-made success, personal truth, and cultural approval. But the Reformation reminds us that our confidence and identity do not come from the world — they come from Christ. We don’t stand on shifting culture. We stand on an unshakable gospel.

At Redemptive Cross, that conviction shapes everything we make. We’re not here just to print shirts. We’re here to carry a message — that redemption is found in Jesus alone. Our designs don’t point to us. They point to the Savior who paid the price, once and for all.

The cross is not decoration.
It is declaration.

Reformation Day is a celebration of returning to the truth.
A call to remember what matters most.
A reminder that the gospel isn’t just history — it’s power today.

And just like Luther didn’t set out to build a movement, we don’t aim to build hype — we aim to lift His name high. If God uses these small seeds to stir someone’s faith, to remind them who Jesus is, or to spark a gospel conversation, then we count that as grace.

But let us be clear — this is not so we can feel proud of ourselves or take credit. We fight the temptation to think we sparked something or we made someone believe. We are not the authors of faith, nor the ones who awaken hearts.

It is the Holy Spirit who convicts and transforms

And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment

John 16:8

he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Titus 3:5-7

We plant and water. It is God who gives the growth

I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. 7 So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.

1 Corinthians 3:6-7

It is Christ who saves, not us

And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men[a] by which we must be saved.

Acts 4:12

We are simply vessels — humbled, grateful, and honored that God would use us at all. If any good comes from this brand, let it never point back to us. Let it point back to Him alone.

All glory to Christ.

Christ alone.
No other name.
No other hope.

Happy Reformation Day.

Soli Deo Gloria.
